~ How to Make Progressive Form ~

The way to make the form is very easy if you know

the way to make past form.

How to make past form๐Ÿ‘‡
https://oyenkushi.hatenadiary.jp/entry/2019/01/26/055614

Past form ends with ใŸ.

For example,

้ฃŸในใŸ
/ta-beta/
โ€ฆate

่ฆ‹ใŸ
/mi-ta/
...saw

ไฝœใฃใŸ
/tsuku-tta/
...made

่ชญใ‚“ใ
/yo-mda/
...read

ใ—ใŸ
/shita/
...did

And when you make progressive form, you change

the end from ใŸ to ใฆใ„ใ‚‹/teiru/

For example,

้ฃŸในใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/ta-be TEIRU/
...to be eating

่ฆ‹ใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/mi- TEIRU/
...to be seeing

ไฝœใฃใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/tsuku-TTEIRU/
...to be making

่ชญใ‚“ใงใ„ใ‚‹
/yo-m DEIRU/
...to be reading

ใ—ใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/shi TEIRU/
...to be doing

~ The Usage of Progressive Form ~

The usage is similar to that of English.

You can basically use that form when something is

going on.

For example,

ใƒปใ™ใ—ใ‚’้ฃŸในใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/sushi o ta-be teiru/
... I'm eating sushi

ใƒปใƒ†ใƒฌใƒ“ใ‚’่ฆ‹ใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/terebi o mi- teiru/
... I'm watching TV

ใƒปๅฝผใ‚’็Ÿฅใฃใฆใ„ใ‚‹
/kare o shi- tteiru/
...I know him

We say like "I'm knowing him" because I'm going on

knowing him.

ใƒปๆฐดใฏ100โ„ƒใงๆฒธ้จฐใ™ใ‚‹
/mizu wa hyaku-do de fu-ttou suru/
... Water boils at a temperature of 100 degree

We don't use progressive form as English does,

though the fact is going on true.

~ More in detail ~

Some verbs' progressive forms sound a little bit

angry and bossy when you ask someone.

The verbs are these two:

ใ‚ใ‹ใ‚‹
/wakaru/
...to understand

็†่งฃใ™ใ‚‹
/ri-kai-suru/
...to understand

The first one sounds more casual.

If you ask someone ใ‚ใ‹ใฃใฆใ„ใ‚‹๏ผŸ or ็†่งฃใ—ใฆใ„

ใ‚‹๏ผŸ, that sounds you don't think they understand

and are angry with that.

So you should say ใ‚ใ‹ใฃใŸ๏ผŸ or ็†่งฃใ—ใŸ๏ผŸ

These are past and complete form, so that sound

you think they already understood.

You can also say ใฆใ‚‹ instead of ใฆใ„ใ‚‹.

We usually use ใฆใ‚‹ like ใ‚ใ‹ใฃใฆใ‚‹, ้ฃŸในใฆใ‚‹

So that's all today.

I hope this helps you.
