#19 What does 会計士 mean? ~ Study Japanese for your future!!~

I was requested to write about the terminologies of accountancy.

So I googled about the accountancy.

I found that an accountant is very popular job in the

world because it's thought that it's a common

language in the world of business.

So it has very strong competition.

In the other hand, in Japan, it's not so popular that

most of us know about it so little.

So it has much weaker competition in Japan than world has.

If you consider that, it's one of the good ways to get

an accounting certification in Japan, and you get

business in your own country.

If you also like Japanese, it's the best way, isn't it?

Studying Japanese can be for your future!!!

In the future, an accountant will get popular in

Japan too like the world is now.

So you should take an accounting certification as

soon as possible if you decided to be an

accountant.

So today, I lecture the terminologies of accountancy.

会計士
/kai-kei-shi/
...an accountant

Example:

・会計士になりたい
/kai-kei-shi ni naritai/
...I want to be an accountant.

→なりたい means like "want to be~"

Example for なりたい:

・医者になりたい…I want to be a doctor
・強くなりたい…I want to be strong
・犬になりたい…I want to be a dog

医者(i-sha)
強く(tsuyo-ku)
犬(inu)

決算
/ke-ssan/
... account settlement

If I explain this with easy words, it's a calculation to

find out how the company grows and how it is

present.

決 means "to decide"
算 means "to calculate"

So 決算 means like "to decide the end of the period and calculate the growth to the end"

Example:

・決算を行う
/ke-ssan o okona-u/
...this means to do the calculation

→行う means "to do", so it means same as する. 行う is just more formal.

現金残高
/gen-kin-zan-daka/
... cash balance

現 means "present"
金 means "money"
残 means "rest"
高 means "amount" here, but usually it means "height" or "high"

Example:

・現金残高が少ない
/gen-kin-zan-daka ga suku-nai/
…The cash balance is small

→少ない means "little" or "small"

資本
/shi-hon/
... capital

資 means "property"
本 usually means "a book", but here it means "money which makes a profit"

So 資本 means like "money to do business"

Books give us benefits, so there's some relationship

between 本, which means a book, and 本, which

makes a profit.

Kanji is so deep, isn't it??

利息
/ri-soku/
...interest

利 means a profit
息 means usually breathing, but if it's used with 利

like 利息, it means interest. 息, itself, has no

meaning in 利息.

Example:

・6分の利息
/roku bu no ri-soku/
…6 percent interest

分 meams "percent" here.
